FCC Signal Booster Mandate Wireless Telecommunications Bureau Requirements for Signal Boosters Industrial Signal Boosters As of March 1, 2014, the FCC requires that all industrial signal boosters have a label stating compliance and installation performed by qualified, FCC Licensee installers with carrier approval. This applies to ALL of the Bi-Directional Amplifiers and Digital Repeaters produced by Westell except those noted for Public Safety applications (see below). Any of these products shipped on or after March 1, 2014 will have a warning label stating these requirements. These products purchased prior to March 1, 2014 also need to be labeled. Public Safety Signal Boosters As of November 1, 2014, the FCC requires that all public safety signal boosters need to be registered and labeled as a Part 90 Class B Signal Booster. A signal booster number will be assigned by the FCC when registered. Any of these products shipped on or after March 1, 2014 will be labeled in accordance with these requirements All Westell product variations that contain the model number suffix of PS7, PSS8, S7, S8, S9 on the Bi-Directional Amplifiers (BDA) and the Digital Repeaters (DSP) are affected.
