Westell’s eSmartES™ is a Managed Ethernet Edge Switch designed specifically for use in harsh environments on the perimeter of Ethernet networks where Smart Grid and industrial devices are connected. Ideal applications include industrial and heavy duty outdoor settings such as power utility substations, video surveillance systems, and traffic control monitoring. The eSmartES offers industrial-grade software within a rugged Ethernet switch.

The ES8100 Series Managed Ethernet Switch incorporates Westell's SiteVu™ functionality which provides complete visibility to remote site environmental and equipment status from the user's desktop, giving the user a real-time monitoring solution. SiteVu™ features include:

External temperature probe input
Input voltage level monitor
A/B voltage monitor
2 external telemetry inputs for doors, power supplies, alarms, and other external sources
