We are seeking a Senior Buyer to join our team. This person will be responsible for managing inventory, vendor relationships and the procurement of goods. This position will have full accountability for the completion of assigned requests, including but not limited to:

  • Surveying and evaluating component sources and cost reductions
  • Consolidating the supply base
  • Negotiating, placing and administering purchase orders
  • Expediting purchase orders
  • Managing JIT deliveries with suppliers

 

Qualifications:
  • BA/BS or business related degree
  • 5-7 years purchasing, cost reduction, process reduction, inventory control
  • Understanding of MRP, inventory control methods
  • Knowledge of electronics market place
  • Product knowledge and understanding of supply base
  • Understanding of SAP, Agile and Excel
  • Ability to work independently and make risk decisions; detail oriented

Senior Manufacturing Engineer

We are currently seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer who will be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing and test of Westell’s growing line of Radio Frequency (RF) products for wireless service providers. This person will be responsible for the processes in the manufacturing department for RF products and implementing corrective actions. This person will be required to coordinate with the engineering design team to ensure that product design meets manufacturing capabilities. They will also be required to work with a variety of disciplines such as engineering, component engineering, production, mechanical engineering, purchasing, and quality. This position will have full accountability for the completion of processes and requests, including but not limited to:

  • Perform continuous improvement tasks including line balancing, time studies, and yield monitoring
  • Implement cost reduction initiatives including evaluating, implementing new equipment with return on investment justification
  • Write standard operating procedures and work instructions
  • Design and conduct experiments and/or any type of statistical process controls
  • Act as a secondary tier of support for maintenance, production, and Associate Manufacturing Engineers
  • Take the lead role on a variety of high-level projects
  • Act as a direct line of support for machine maintenance and production for daily manufacturing activities

 

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five years of experience manufacturing RF products for cellular/wireless networks.
  • Bachelor’s degree required with emphasis in an Engineering-related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge base of manufacturing processes with emphasis on SMT and programming.
  • Computer literate including Microsoft Office, SAP, and Agile. Auto-CAD and MS Project are desired.
  • Must be able to take lead on a variety of projects. Must be a self-starter and self-direct his or her own work. Must work as a team player.

RF Design Engineer


We are seeking a Radio Frequency Design Engineer to join Westell’s developing RF product group. The person in this role will be expected to be the technical subject matter expert and will have great influence in guiding the enhancement of the product line. Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Provide technical design expertise and direction for all RF products
  • Evaluate existing designs for cost and quality improvements
  • Develop new products from initial concept
  • Productize designs developed internally or externally (including generating bills of materials, part specifications, test specifications, schematics, etc.)
  • Generation of technical proposals and white papers
  • Project engineering, providing technical guidance to project team members and individual circuit design
  • Provide technical support for sales and marketing activities
  • Often interface with customers, and will contribute ideas to new product development and IR&D

 

Required Qualifications:
  • BSEE
  • Five years experience in the RF or related field
  • Solid working knowledge of RF theory, RF board level and system design
  • Proven track record of developing board level RF based designs AND producing those designs
  • Experience with schematic capture CAD
  • Entrepreneurial attitude
  • Willingness to step into any task in support of the group
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with MS Office

 

Desired Qualifications:
  • MSEE or PhD
  • Knowledge of the cellular network
  • RF system level design experience
  • Experience with Agile, Viewlogic Schematic Capture, Mentor Expedition

Black Box Test Engineer

We are seeking a Black Box Test Engineer to join a team designing and developing our innovative ethernet products. The person in this role will be responsible for developing, maintaining and supporting the software systems for our OSP Ethernet solution. This position will have full accountability for the completion of assigned projects and requests, including but not limited to:

  • Plan, manage and execute product testing efforts as per release schedule;
  • Develop testing approaches, testing strategies, test plan, test cases, scripts that meet system requirement and project milestone;
  • Evaluate conditions and criteria under which test case automation should occur, and automate the regression test suite;
  • Prepare, maintain and review of QA documentation and metrics to ensure compliance with quality assurance standards and requirements;
  • Work closely with development, product management, marketing and architect to understand the system requirements and prioritize work requests in the testing environment;
  • Assess and communicate the impact of changes to end users, stakeholders and management;
  • And perform all required record keeping and documentation relating to the work performed and to the developed systems.

 

Qualifications:
  • BS in Computer Science.
  • Experience in testing of Ethernet switching products. L2/L3 protocols and typical Ethernet system practices.
  • Knowledge of MEF standards and testing scenarios.
  • Experience testing embedded product with Linux OS.
  • Experience in testing L2/L3 Network Routing/Protocols.
  • Experience with Ixia test suites.
  • Experience in testing all major OS platforms (Windows, Mac OSx, Linux).
  • Experience in using Quality Center and/or Test Director.
  • Experience in defect management system (Star Team, JIRA, Clear Case, Clear Quest).
