(NASDAQ: WSTL), a leading provider of broadband products, gateways and conferencing services, today announced results for its fourth quarter and fiscal year 2008, ending March 31, 2008. Total revenue for the fourth quarter was $44.7 million, a decrease from the $60.0 million reported in the prior year period. Net loss during the period was $61.5 million, or $0.87 per diluted share, compared to net income of $0.6 million, or $0.01 per diluted share in the same period last year.

The above results are inclusive of $457,000 of expense from Contineo Systems, the software development company that Westell has a 40% equity investment in. In addition, net loss for the fiscal third quarter includes a pre-tax expense of $521,000 in consulting costs related to the implementation of the outsourcing plan.
