Tom GruenwaldPresident and Chief Executive Officer Tom joined Westell in 2015 as President and Chief Executive Officer, and had served on Westell’s Board of Directors since 2013, including Lead Independent Director since 2014. He brings to Westell three decades of experience leading dynamic, technology-based growth businesses in the global telecommunications market. Tom began his business career in switching systems development at Bell Laboratories before moving to Tellabs, where he held successive senior executive positions during his 16-year tenure there, including Chief Technology Officer, Executive Vice President of the Broadband Networking division, Chief Information Officer, and Vice President of Human Resources and Quality Systems. After leaving Tellabs in 2007, Tom served as Managing Director at the Global Sentry Group, LLC, a strategic advisory and turnaround firm specializing in small and mid-sized high tech companies. He served on the Board of Spectrum Control (SPEC) from 1999 until 2011 when it was acquired. Tom also has served as Board Chairman for Edward Hospital, a billion-dollar regional health care facility, and on other not-for-profit boards, including Iowa State’s Engineering Advisory Council, Illinois Institute of Technology Board, North Central College Board of Trustees, and Girl Scouts of DuPage County Board. A physicist by trade, Tom earned a Ph.D. in Theoretical Elementary Particle Physics from Purdue University and taught Physics and Astronomy at the University of Portland. Tom MinichielloSenior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer, and Secretary Tom joined Westell in 2013 as Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer, and Secretary, responsible for all aspects of finance as well as information technology, human resources, legal, contract administration, and real estate. Tom came to Westell from Tellabs, where he served as acting Chief Financial Officer, Vice President of Finance and Chief Accounting Officer, Vice President of Financial Operations, Vice President of Finance for North America, Director of Finance for Tellabs’ product divisions, and Controller for the optical networking group. Prior to Tellabs, Tom served in various financial leadership roles at Andrew Corporation, Phelps Dodge, and United Technologies. He began his career in the finance organization at Sterling Drug. Tom holds an MBA in entrepreneurship and operations management from DePaul University, an MS in accounting from the University of Hartford, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Villanova University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of Financial Executives International, and serves on the Chicago Advisory Board for Back on My Feet. Chuck BernsteinSenior Vice President Worldwide Sales Chuck joined Westell in 2015 as Senior Vice President Worldwide Sales. Chuck brings over 25 years sales leadership experience in the telecommunications and information technology industries, including high profile sales vice president positions, leading major sales growth in both Carrier and Enterprise markets. Prior to Westell, Chuck served as Vice President Worldwide Sales for Telecommunications Systems, Inc. (TCS), Commercial Software Group responsible for location platform and applications business. Prior to TCS Chuck served as Vice President North American Sales at Net Optics (acquired by Ixia) and Vice President North American Sales at Tellabs. Chuck earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Maryland. Michael T. MoranChief Technology Officer Michael joined Westell in 2015 as Chief Technology Officer. An industry veteran, he brings extensive experience in high-level corporate strategy, technical and systems engineering, and executive management to the Westell team. Michael’s previous executive positions include Director of Portfolio Strategy; Director of Planning, Systems Engineering and Architecture; and Director of Engineering, all for Tellabs. Via his work at Tellabs, Michael brings a thorough understanding of emerging markets such as software defined networking (SDN), cloud and datacenter, and network function virtualization (NFV); and a strong background in technology including application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC), software, digital signal processing (DSP) and hardware development, marketing strategy and mergers and acquisition work. Prior to Tellabs, Michael held prominent technical and executive positions at McAfee, Network Associates, Network General, Alcatel, Siemens and GTE. He has been awarded 22 patents including “application layer analysis and prescribed analytics of real-time data”. Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the DeVry Institute of Technology and a master of science in computer science from North Carolina State University. Brian BrouilletteSenior Vice President of Intelligent Site Management and Worldwide Services Brian joined Westell in 2015 as Senior Vice President of Intelligent Site Management (ISM) and Worldwide Services. Brian comes to Westell with more than 30 years of experience in corporate strategy, executive management, and global services. Prior to his new position at Westell, Brian served as VP and GM of Ixia, a provider of application performance and security resilience solutions. At Ixia, Brian oversaw the firm’s sales operations and was instrumental in the integration of Ixia following the 2013 acquisition of Net Optics. Before the acquisition, he served as VP and GM of Global Support and Professional Services for Net Optics. Brian also founded and served as the Managing Director of TateLee Consulting. Other prior positions included VP and GM of Enterprise Services for Juniper Networks and VP and GM for Hewlett Packard (HP), where he worked for 27 years. At HP, Brian was responsible for overseeing four business units: HP Datacenter Services (EYP), HP Network Services, HP Mission Critical Services, and HP Education Services. Brian holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from West Virginia Wesleyan, and successfully completed seven non-degree programs at both Stanford and Harvard Universities.
