Finalist in IEC InfoVision Awards 2006

Westell’s MediaStations recognized as one of the best innovations in broadband

AURORA, IL, OCTOBER 2, 2006 -- Westell Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: WSTL), a leading provider of convergence gateways, broadband access solutions and conferencing services, is enjoying recognition from the International Engineering Consortium (IEC) after being nominated as a finalist in the Broadband Appliances, Devices, and Home Networking category, in the InfoVision Awards 2006. The Awards ceremony will take place on October 10th as part of the IEC’s Broadband World Forum Europe event (BBWF) being held at the CNIT Exhibition Centre in Paris.

The InfoVision Award program recognizes technologies, applications, products, advances, and services judged to be the most unique and beneficial to the telecommunications industry. Selected by a review committee composed of industry experts from vendor companies, service providers, and industry associations, Westell’s MediaStation was short listed based on demanding criteria including the value of the technology in enhancing customer service; the quality of innovation and contribution to technology advancement; originality and contribution to positive market growth.

“Our MediaStations represent a significant advancement in broadband technology with a single-access point to IP telephony, wireless networking and organizer/PDA functionality and it is an honor that those achievements have been recognized by the IEC,” said David McKeigue, Managing Director, Westell Ltd. “This nomination underlines the strengths in design and development of the MediaStations as an ‘always on’ household device that allows service providers to create their own unique applications and services that are responsive to customers’ needs and the changing business environment.”

The Westell MediaStation, which can be seen at booth #3026 at BBWF, is a revolutionary integrated broadband appliance that combines wired or wireless broadband connectivity, a digital cordless speakerphone that supports analog and/or VoIP telephony, and a color touch-screen that offers control of all functions. It also includes a powerful multimedia engine that controls voice, data and video applications, and is built on the WinCE platform, which simplifies application development. The MediaStation is an all-in-one product offering easy and convenient access to content and services without the use of a PC.
