Abiding by the FCC Signal Booster Mandate

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requires that all industrial signal boosters display a label stating compliance and installation performed by qualified FCC Licensee installers with carrier approval. At Westell, we have implemented a process to ensure all repeaters and signal boosters are labeled in accordance with this requirement.

Wireless Telecommunications Bureau Requirements for Signal Boosters

Industrial Signal Boosters

As of March 1, 2014, the FCC requires that all industrial signal boosters have a label stating compliance and installation performed by qualified FCC Licensee installers with carrier approval. This applies to ALL of the Bi-Directional Amplifiers and Digital Repeaters produced by Westell except those noted for Public Safety applications (see below).

Any of these products shipped on or after March 1, 2014, will have a warning label stating these requirements. Any of these products purchased prior to March 1, 2014, also need to be labeled. Westell can provide labels for the products if needed. Contact information has been noted below.

Public Safety Signal Boosters

As of November 1, 2014, the FCC requires that all public safety signal boosters need to be registered and labeled as a Part 90 Class B Signal Booster. Once a booster is registered, the FCC will assign it a signal booster number.
