The Associate Product Manager position will work with the Product Management Team and other groups on the development and maintenance of Westell products. This is a developmental position that, as the person grows and opportunities become available, could progress to a full Product Manager role.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Facilitating new products and development programs to completion.
  • Day to day product support activities, which include, but are not limited to: product pricing, product change approvals, cost reductions, point of contact for all product related questions and customer support.
  • Provide data analysis on the competitive environment, current product offering, customer needs, and sales trends along with specific recommendations. Prioritizes opportunities for product improvements, product line additions, and other growth prospects.
  • Develops build/buy/partner strategies for new products
  • Interaction with the sales team and marketing personnel to build revenue and meet customer satisfaction objectives
  • Being the customer requirement and market advocate. Representation of customer requirements at technical meetings within the company.
  • Contributing member of product core-team meetings
  • Product forecasting
  • Lifecycle management (SKU reduction, product transitions, end of life) of assigned product lines
  • Assist with component sourcing
  • Ability to handle any problem that may typically arise and offer creative solutions to unique cases

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or engineering and two years of relevant business experience. MBA desirable.
  • Good presentation, group collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Good negotiation skills with internal and external groups
  • Spreadsheet analytical skills: business cases and margin
  • Ability to write and deliver training courses and materials
  • Familiar with developing marketing plans for new products
  • Project management skills
  • Good at creative problem solving
  • Be a self-starter, a highly motivated person able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in the wireless industry
  • Experience in the telecom industry
  • Experience with Agile Product Lifecycle Manager and SAP

  • Support for internal staff on supporting production, specifying and quoting
  • Manage key suppliers for quality and availability
